Lotus Neuro is a clinical-stage therapeutics development company pioneering a novel approach to treating the most intractable diseases of the brain. The company leverages a proven and proprietary low-frequency focused ultrasound technology to open the blood–brain barrier non-invasively and transiently, which, in combination with advanced therapeutics, unlocks an entirely new pathway for treating complex brain diseases. To date, the platform has been used in nearly 600 therapeutic cycles across indications including brain tumors, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS.
Lotus Neuro was launched in December 2025 as a spinout of Insightec, a global medical technology company focused on realizing the therapeutic power of acoustic energy. Lotus Neuro raised $50M in seed financing, backed by a Strategic Foundation Investor, a leading investment firm dedicated to advancing the treatment and management of brain disorders.
Lotus Neuro aims to advance the next generation of brain-targeted therapies with unprecedented precision and control. The company's low-frequency focused ultrasound (LOFUS) technology can non-invasively and precisely open the BBB, creating a transient and repeatable gateway into the brain that can be personalized to a patient's disease, anatomy, and therapeutic regimen. Beyond opening the blood–brain barrier, LOFUS is integral to enabling and generating a targeted therapeutic effect — actuating a drug's mechanism of action, enhancing expression of a therapy, immune priming an environment, and creating more ideal binding situations. In essence, LOFUS serves as a true augment to a therapeutic. Lotus Neuro is partnering with leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to build a pipeline of clinical-stage programs, initially focused in neuro-oncology and with plans to expand into neurodegenerative diseases and beyond.
The LOFUS platform has been well-validated over years of development at Insightec, whose incisionless, MRI-guided focused ultrasound technology has already been used to treat more than 25,000 patients worldwide for movement disorders such as essential tremor and Parkinson's disease, with systems installed at over 250 centers globally. The technology has a robust safety profile, widespread adoption, and a stellar track record with global regulatory agencies. Lotus Neuro recently published results from a multicenter glioblastoma trial demonstrating that employing focused ultrasound to temporarily open the blood–brain barrier during standard-of-care chemotherapy resulted in significantly improved overall survival. The platform can be paired with virtually any modality, including ADCs, AAV, siRNAs, ASOs, biologics, enzymes, cell therapies, mRNA, and radiopharmaceuticals, and — relative to other brain-shuttle approaches — does not require chemistry reformulations or additional protein or linker modifications.
Lotus Neuro is advancing a portfolio of programs that pair LOFUS with high-value therapeutic assets across modalities. Initial clinical focus is in neuro-oncology, with a near-term expansion into selected neurodegenerative indications.
As Lotus Neuro moves its first combination programs toward the clinic, the company is recruiting a Medical Director, Clinical Development to serve as the hands-on clinical and medical leader for its neuro-oncology pipeline. This is a builder's role for an MD/PhD neurosurgeon (or comparably trained physician-scientist) who wants to be accountable for the protocols, patient safety, and clinical execution that turn a first-in-class platform into enrolling trials. Working directly with the Founding Scientist and the platform team, this individual will author the protocols sites execute, serve as the medical and safety conscience of the programs, and bridge preclinical translation and clinical delivery. The successful candidate will roll up their sleeves to write protocols, engage investigators, monitor patient safety, and drive programs forward with urgency.
The Medical Director, Clinical Development will report to and partner closely with Ajay Verma, MD, PhD, Founding Scientist. Ajay owns the scientific and translational strategy that underwrites every combination the company pursues; the Medical Director, Clinical Development will be his primary partner in translating that strategy into safe, well-run clinical studies.
The Medical Director will be Lotus Neuro's clinical execution leader, accountable for the design, authoring, and conduct of the company's clinical protocols and for the medical oversight and safety of patients enrolled in LOFUS-enabled combination studies. Closing the company's current medical and safety oversight gap is a priority of this hire. The role spans both preclinical and clinical work — ensuring that translational packages are clinically grounded and that programs hand off cleanly from discovery into first-in-human studies. There is no inherited team; the Medical Director will help build clinical operations capability over time and may grow the function as the pipeline matures.
We are seeking a clinically active or clinically trained physician-scientist — ideally an MD/PhD neurosurgeon — with direct, hands-on clinical trial experience and a track record of authoring and running protocols. The ideal candidate has served as a protocol author, sub-investigator or principal investigator, and/or medical monitor, and is comfortable owning patient safety in early-phase oncology or neuro-oncology studies. Strong protocol-writing skills are essential. Experience with neurosurgical or device-based interventional procedures (e.g., focused ultrasound, Gamma Knife, intraoperative or image-guided delivery) is highly valued, as is familiarity with combination drug-device development (IND plus IDE). Exposure to one or more of Lotus Neuro's focus areas — glioblastoma, pediatric and adult midline glioma, or non-GBM high-grade glioma — and to modalities such as ADCs, bispecifics, nucleic acid therapeutics, radiopharmaceuticals, or AAV gene therapies will be viewed favorably.
The Medical Director should be comfortable spanning preclinical translation and clinical execution, contributing clinical and medical judgment to asset diligence, and supporting regulatory filings. Experience leveraging advanced imaging, ctDNA, and PK/PD or exposure-response data for clinical decision-making is a strong plus.
The ideal candidate combines clinical credibility and scientific depth with a hands-on, urgent, get-it-done working style. This person is rigorous and detail-oriented about patient safety and data quality, yet pragmatic and resourceful in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. They are collaborative, intellectually curious, and able to toggle between writing a protocol, debating translational science, and engaging an investigator or regulator. They lead through influence and example, communicate clearly, and bring sound judgment, organizational discipline, and an upbeat, optimistic approach to building something new.
An MD/PhD is strongly preferred, ideally with neurosurgery training or substantial neuro-oncology clinical experience; an MD or a PhD in a relevant discipline with commensurate clinical-development experience will also be considered. Board certification or eligibility in neurosurgery, neurology, or a related field is a plus. As with all Lotus Neuro roles, demonstrated accomplishments, clinical and scientific judgment, work ethic, and behavioral flexibility will weigh as heavily as formal credentials.

Lotus Neuro operates as a virtual company with Miami, FL as its corporate home. This role can be performed remotely. The Medical Director, Clinical Development will have regular travel to Boston, Miami, and the Lotus Neuro clinical site network in the United States and abroad.
